The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR) appointed me to head one of Nigeria’s leading Colleges of Education with effect from April 01, 2014. Prior to this appointment, I had served the College as Deputy Provost after twelve years of engagement in various capacities in the College.
The vision for 2014–18 is very simple: to pursue high-impact, low-cost projects that will add superlative value to the solid image of the College. Three main areas of emphases:
* Activities that enhance the primary aims of the sponsors – teaching, research, and community service via use of cutting age technology, improved academic activities, and community friendly engagements.
* Environmental management and aesthetics to create an atmosphere that will conduce teaching, learning, and research.
* Entrepreneurship development for the College, students, and staff.
The third focus undoubtedly is expected to enhance the first two. One need not wonder at this emphasis because much of my life’s work – theory and practicum – have been in the rarefied world of entrepreneurship. The apogee came by way of the 1st Inaugural Lecture of the College on April 5th, 2013 when I made an epoch-making presentation titled “Accelerated National Development: Entrepreneurship as the Beautiful Bride?” A summary of that event can be read on the link provided.
I therefore call on all stakeholders, from the sponsor – the Federal Government of Nigeria – to the other external and internal publics to cooperate with the Management of the College so that our vision can be realized.
God Almighty will help us.
